He probably crossed late yesterday afternoon... and roosted right back down here in these woods.

It seems likely that some roosted on cliffs and launched themselves into the air as gannets do today.

And now it's all back, back roosting in my brain.

As evening comes on, the hillstar hummingbird makes its way to its regular roosting place, in a cave.

But only to go on mutely roosting... on the top of various other holiday hotels... in germfree... air-conditioned solitude.
